Southwest Athletics 14u located in Clemmons, NC, have won the Babe Ruth NC State Championship and now move on to regional play in Colonial Heights, VA.
To help offset the costs to parents we are hoping you can donate to our cause. We will be leaving for Regional play on July 25th so there is not much time before we leave. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. The money will be used to help offset the travel costs of hotels and meals for the players and parents.
In 1963, E.K. Whitener Jr. had a dream. After relocating from New Jersey to Clemmons, North Carolina, E.K. quickly realized there was not a Little League in the Clemmons or Lewisville area for kids to participate in. With help from friends, E.K. established Southwest Forsyth Little League and began his first term as President. In a few short years after inception, SWFLL won its first of many NC District 2 and State Championships. In 1966, SWFLL became the first NC District 2 Little League to participate in Big League Baseball. In the same and following year, SWFLL would host and participate in the Big League World Series. At this time, SWFLL was considered the largest Little League in the nation. In 1974, SWFLL added the girls softball program. After a few years, the girls would began winning NC District 2 and State titles. In 1981, the SWFLL Major boys made it to the Southeast Regional finals (falling short one game from the Little League World Series). In 2002, SWFLL would accomplish its greatest achievement to date. The Major boys would go undefeated in District, State and Regional Tournament play – earning SWFLL a spot in the 2002 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. In 2016, SWFLL evolved to Southwest Athletics and is now associated with Ripken Baseball. Southwest is proud of its rich history and of the many volunteers over the years who have and will continue to make Southwest Athletics a tremendous success. taxid 560341912
