Wendy DeGiovanni became ill with what she thought was a simple respiratory infection in April this year, but she wasn’t getting any better and a trip to the ER uncovered that she was more ill than anyone expected, battling pneumonia and multiple blood clots she was sent to a larger hospital for more critical care. Unfortunately, her condition has continued to worsen and after many tests, she has been diagnosed with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) a severe, life threatening inflammatory syndrome associated with an intense cytokine release (also known as a ‘cytokine storm”) HLH is characterized by aggressive course leading to multi-organ failure.

Wendy is currently on a ventilator in ICU fighting for her life.  They are treating her with all they can and her husband  and daughter are by her side, pulling for her to fight but with her initial illness and subsequent hospitalization, Wendy has been out of work and her husband Art is unable to work now as they stay by Wendy’s side so her friends have set up this Gofundme to help relieve some of the financial stress that the DeGiovanni Family is going through right now.
