Please Help the Higgins Family
So many of you have reached out and asked how you can help our parents, Larry and Sally Higgins. We are setting this page up for them.
Saturday, June 19, 2021 around 6:51, the floodwaters were already at the bottom of their steps. Within 5 minutes, the water was inside the trailer and mom and dad were trapped. We immediately hopped in the car, but we quickly learned we could not get to them. We had to watch from a nearby parking lot as the waters rose. After what seemed like an eternity, they were finally rescued by boat. They were transported to DCH where they were evaluated. They were still very shaken, but they were ok. They came home with us and are now safe. The trailer, belongings and the car are a total loss. They will completely start over. The most immediate need of course is to find a replacement vehicle. We appreciate any and all support and if you are not able to give, please Pray! We believe in the power of prayer!
We realized this is actually the second natural disaster our parents have survived, the first a tornado. Mom and dad were volunteer firemen in Coker and while they were out helping others, a tree fell on their house, and they lost it. Now they have survived a flash flood and lost another home.
