Not going without a fight

Hola a todos los que lean esta pagina. Les contaré un poco de mi historia. Mi nombre es Maria Funes, tengo 25 años y en noviembre del 2019 me diagnosticaron con sarcoma endometrial. Este es un cancer muy raro y en ocasiones agresivo, por lo cual me operaron. Durante la operación fue necesario quitar mi utero, ovarios, trompas de Falopio y algunos ganglios linfáticos para ser analizados y evitar la diseminación temprana del cancer.

En primera instancia los patologos de mi pais concluyeron que el cancer era de alto grado y se habia diseminado a los ganglios linfaticos. Por este motivo los oncologos de mi pais decidieron que era necesario iniciar quimioterapia con un regimen agresivo lo antes posible. Por lo raro de este cancer los oncologos recomendaron que las biopsias fueran evaluadas en Estados Unidos, y así mismo buscar una segunda opinión en este país. Un angelito que Dios puso en este camino en conjunto con ayuda de muchos amigos y familia logre ir a los Estados Unidos a investigar a profundidad este diagnostico. Gracias a Dios, después de una segunda evaluación en Estados Unidos se determinó que actualmente el cancer es de bajo grado. Por los momentos la quimioterapia no es necesaria (estoy muy agradecida por ello ya que la quimioterapia para este cancer es de las mas agresivas).

Desde entonces mi vida ha cambiado. Actualmente, tendré que tomar pastillas a diario por al menos 5 años para bloquear hormonas (como estrógeno y progesterona) que podrían permitir que el cancer regrese.  Ademas de esto necesito realizarme tomografias (no hay ninguna otra forma que exista en la actualidad que se pueda usar para detectar si hay o no hay reaparicion del cancer) cada 3 meses durante los primeros dos años y cada 6 meses en años subsiguientes. Con los exámenes y citas medicas realizados en Estados Unidos, los recursos económicos de mi familia se han agotado por lo que he decido crear una cuenta en esta pagina con la esperanza de obtener ayuda y continuar con mis citas medicas y exámenes de control; algunos de estos en Estados Unidos.

Sumado a lo anterior tambien tengo esclerosis multiple la cual fue diagnositcada hace 3 años. Quiero mi vida lo mas normal posible, volver a mis estudios y poder en un futuro tener mi propia familia. No dejare que esto me defina o me venza, yo seguire adelante. Estoy muy agradecida en poder contar con su ayuda y espero que Dios les llene siempre de salud.

Hello everyone, thank you in advance for sharing my story. My name is Maria Funes, I am 25 years old and in November 2019 I was diagnosed with endometrial sarcoma. This is a very rare and sometimes aggressive cancer, for which I had surgery. During the surgery it was required to remove my uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and some lymph nodes to be examined and prevent the early spread of cancer.
 
Initially, the pathologists in my country concluded that the cancer was high-grade and had spread to the lymph nodes. For this reason, it was determined that it was necessary to start chemotherapy with an aggressive regimen as soon as possible. Since endometrial sarcoma is a rare type of cancer, oncologists recommended that biopsies be evaluated in the United States, and also seek a second opinion in this country. With a little angel that God place in my path, together with the help of many family and friends I managed to go to the United States to thoroughly investigate this diagnosis. Thanks to God, after a second evaluation in the United States, the cancer was currently determined to be low-grade. At times chemotherapy is not necessary (I am very grateful for this since the chemotherapy for this type cancer is one of the most aggressive).
 
Since then my life has changed. Currently, I will have to take pills daily for at least 5 years to block hormones (such as estrogen and progesterone) that could allow the cancer to return. In addition to this, I need to get CT scans (currently there is no other form that can be used to detect whether or not there is a recurrence of cancer) every 3 months for the first two years and every 6 months in subsequent years. With all the exams and medical appointments made in the United States, my family's financial resources have been exhausted so I have decided to create an account on this page in the hope of getting help and continuing with my with my medical appointments and control exams; some of these in the United States.
 
In addition to everything above I also have multiple sclerosis which was diagnosed three years ago. I want my life as normal as possible, to go back to my studies and to be able in the future to have my own family. I won't let this define me or beat me, I have to move on. I am very grateful to be able to count with your help and I hope that God will always fill you with health.
