The Lyons High Debate and Forensics squad has had the privilege for the last several years to participate at the National level, and this year is no different. However do to budget cuts at the state level we have lost some of our funding which has made it possible to attend both the NCFL National Tournament and the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament.
We are hoping that you will help us raise the $3500.00 needed to attend both of these tournaments this summer. We have 2 students currently qualified for the NCFL National tournament to be held in Sacramento, CA on May 27-29. We hope to have students qualify to the NSDA National tournament in Salt Lake City, UT in June. The funds raised here will go to help pay for travel expenses as well as lodging and food for all the students that will be attending.
The activites of Debate and Forensics allow students to form lifeskills that are much needed and coveted in todays work environment. Lyons High School values these activites and wishes to allow our students the ability to continue to compete at the National level and represent our school and our community.
