JORDAN

A journey of acceptance • Perinatal stroke survivor

Our little superhero entered the world very unexpectedly and early, it was the most traumatic experience but at the end of it all we have our baby girl and that’s all the matters. We knew something was wrong and I am glad we pushed to be monitored and checked. We were in the hospital for 3 weeks before her emergency birth.

Jordan was born with meconium and came out not breathing and was rushed away from us to the intensive care unit. Brandon got to meet her for a second and I didn’t get to see our baby girl. We went through a lot during the emergency c-section and all we wanted was for our girl to come out okay as we knew she was under distress… if we didn’t go into the hospital when we did they suspected in hours she would not have survived inside me. I’ve had some complications since my surgery but Jordan has been our main focus.

Everything that has happened to Jordan and myself they kept saying is very rare and unlikely to happen but it happened.

I got to see our girl after 2 days and held her in my arms after the 3rd day and in the blink of an eye our world went from bad to worse. Jordan started to have seizures and that’s when she was taken away for an MRI which showed she had a stroke around the time of birth.

We did not think Jordan would come home with us and according to the medical professionals she was not meant to make it. We said our goodbyes and sat by her ICU bed 24 hours of the day. BUT Jordan made a recovery and is doing better than any doctor ever imagined and we have our baby girl home after a long 3 weeks. Our girl is a miracle, she is strong, stubborn and so beautiful. Our entire focus has been and will be forever on our little girl, each day is a new day. She didn’t give up on us and we will not give up on her!

We need help from our family, friends and our community to help raise funds for Jordan’s treatment. We want to be able to give Jordan some quality of life. Brandon and I being first time parents and a young couple did not imagine anything like this happening. Brandon has had to leave us to go back to work to provide for our family and the care Jordan requires is very hard to do alone… raising money will help take some stress off our family and get Jordan the help she needs to train her brain to be able to do the things they suspect she can’t. Without medical help Jordan has no quality of life. We want Jordan to be able to walk, talk, hear, see, feed, and breathe on her own… even if she doesn’t achieve these milestones having her here is all that we need! The future looks very different for us and Jordan and I hope we can get her the medical equipment and treatment that she needs.

Our main goal is to be using this money to seek the best doctors to help with her condition.
