Funding Coach Handsome's Recovery

This is our roller derby coach, Mike Crinella AKA Handsome. He currently is off skates due to a sudden serious illness that has kept him in the hospital and away from what he loves most; inspiring others to get out there on skates, embrace our inner rockstar and leave it all out on the track. He is our motivation when we have none. Handsome is the strongest glue that holds our roller derby league; family; together.
On March 18th, Handsome was rushed to the hospital because he was having trouble breathing. The initial diagnosis was pneumonia. A week later, and after many, many test, scans and x-rays we are told Coach Handsome is suffering from Boerhaaves Syndrome. Handsome suffered an esophageal rupture that lead to an infection in his chest. through many ups and down it has been over 50 days and Coach Handsome is still in the hospital. He is set to be released soon but the recovery time at home will be much longer than ever anticipated.
Amazingly, through all of this Coach Handsome has been able to maintain his superior sense of humor. His signature "Happy Surprise" face seen in his photo tells us his spirit is still as strong as ever, even when his body is fighting so hard.
This is a very scary time for Coach Handsome and his wife. Suddenly going from two incomes to only one for such an extended amount of time will be difficult. Adding the medical bills for all the treatment he continues to receive only makes finances that much harder. The medical insurance doesn't cover the cost of Handsome's required feeding tube equipment or supplies. This alone will cost him and his wife, Kat, $800 a month as long as he needs it. The docs say that will be a few months time. Once he is finally released from the hospital his medical bandages and gauze will also be an expense out of pocket. The City and County has unfortunately denied his application for temporary disability insurance. We want to raise funds to help Coach Handsome and his wife pay for his medical treatment and help them stay afloat until he can return to work again.
We want to reach-out to you for any help you may be able to give. Coach Handsome and his wife are two amazing, selfless people that have always put others above themselves. This is their time of need.
