As most of our friends and family know, Andy and Katie both have an extremely rare form of diabetes which also causes some neurological problems. With a new form of treatment, their diabetes has become more manageable, but there is still a lot of research to be done as we know so little about their futures. Three years ago, we were able to attend a medical conference in Chicago. There, we had the privilege of meeting some other families similar to ours and talk with the doctors about the current and ongoing research in this rare disease.
This July, there is going to be another conference. While there, the doctors will be doing some testing with the children. While we would love to attend, it would be an extreme financial burden on our family. Due to pending lay-offs with Dan's work and the rising cost of airline tickets, it would be hard for us to go. If we don't raise enough money for the travel, we will put any money raised toward any unpaid medical bills for the children's care. Every little bit helps. Thank you.
