Knife Crime Victim Support

Knife Crime Victim Support was established in December 2018, shortly after founder Quinton had a vivid dream that inspired him to take steps towards helping Victims of Knife Crime and Serious Youth Violence.

Since then "KCVS" has gained support in the wider community, with over 21,000 Followers across Social Media. As a Charitable Initiative, Knife Crime Victim Support has worked tirelessly across the Country, partnering with Youth Organisations, Schools, County Councils, Police Forces and More. Our Community Collaborations help Young People engage in projects specifically designed to raise awareness and to educate Children from all backgrounds about the dangers of Child Criminal Exploitation, Gangs, County Lines, Substance Abuse, Grooming and more!

Sadly, since the beginning of the Pandemic, we have seen an increase in Knife Related Incidents. Recent Evidence/Reports suggest that this pattern has continued as we have emerged from lockdown regulations. Experts agree that, although surprising, the problem has been getting steadily WORSE since the beginning of Lockdown.

Official figures show the number of Knife Crime offences increased by 25 per cent to 12,120 between July and September 2020 compared to the same period in 2019. The impact on already overstretched hospitals was catastrophic. After the first lockdown was eased, the number of cases of people aged 16-24 rushed to hospital with life-threatening knife injuries soared by 177 per cent!

According to NHS Digital, hospitals saw 543 admissions in England and Wales in August. It is the highest ever recorded and many hospitals — busy fighting Covid — did not have time to collate figures, so the level could be much higher.

The difficulty is that vulnerable young people who would have been seen daily by teachers, youth workers and other professionals have seen challenges in accessibility towards that structured support since March 2019!

Knife Crime Victim Support have found it important to reach out to those who we feel may have been isolated, with programmes and workshops that have helped keep Young People keep occupied during these difficult times. With the help of Key Referrals, we have connected with 100s of Young People Online (Zoom/Teams) to help them decompress, express thoughts & Feelings and stay active during a time that has been particularly stressful for all.

Quinton and his team have actively supported those who have been referred to us. We have been able to encourage Young People to process and talk about some of these adversity's (Mental Health, Emotional Neglect, Imprisoned Relatives, Social Media Pressures, Divorce, Substance Abuse) through Creative and Introspective Workshops that help our groups de-compress and address these risk factors in a supervised and safe space, with professionals and trusted adults

Since the Government have lifted most restrictions, Knife Crime Victim Support has been able to return to Schools and continue delivering our Music & Creative Arts Workshops, designed to help Youngsters build confidence and self esteem.

Our Workshops provide a Safe Space for Children & Young People to Talk about Societal Issues in an innovative and forward thinking way. KCVS have established themselves as a trusted and respected organisation that has seen notable learning outcomes and positive results.
