Captain Rich Ryan FBINA Session 263

Donation protected
As 2015 past president of the FBINAA NYS/EC Chapter, I had the honor of conducting the FBINA Session 263 in-briefing earlier this year at the Buffalo FBI Field Office for Captain Rich Ryan prior to his departure for training in Quantico.

Captain Ryan worked for the Irondequoit Police Department, the New York State Police and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office for over twenty years. While attending the FBINA session, Rich had headaches and dizziness which led him to be examined at a hospital in Virginia. It was during this hospital visit that Rich was diagnosed with brain cancer. His wife and family were with him at this time and they drove back to Rochester, New York to have immediate surgery. Once in New York State, they were provided a police escort from the PA line to Rochester by the New York State Police and the Greece (NY) Police Department. When they arrived at the hospital, members from every police department in Monroe County (NY) were present to welcome him home. The next day he underwent brain surgery, had a second brain surgery several weeks later and then underwent simultaneous chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

Rich is supported by his loving wife Erin and children Justin and Rebecca. As our thoughts and prayers are with Rich and his family, donations are being accepted to assist with associated medical and living expenses. We thank him for his long-time committment and service to law enforcement and local community.
