Hey guys!,
My name is Travis Yoder. I am 23 years old and for many years all I have done with my life is go to school. As it seems all good things must come to an end in order for something new to begin. I will be graduating on May 11th with a degree in Sports Management from Emmanuel College. It has been stressful to think about what the future holds for me and with that has come many thoughts on what i want to do with my life. Since being in college I have grown a great appreciation for culture and people. Some of my best friends in college have come from all over the world with amazing stories about there lives in far off countries. They have also shared with me some of the hurt that exists in our world today. With all of these stories and people that I have been blessed to meet there has been a developing desire to pursue an opportunity to make an impact on peoples lives in this world. Recently I applied to IVHQ Volunteers which is an organization that sends people all over the world to make a difference in communities and peoples lives. With this organization I applied to a sports teaching program located in Ghana, Africa. As it seems I have been accepted. What I will do there is be a sort of a physical education teacher in primary schools as well as coach different sports which will result in the setup of games between schools and children. Many of the children in Ghana are the sons and daughters of struggling fisherman and farmers in a continent that has many problems. With this opportunity to simply pour into children's lives I will be able to give hope and dreams to them and make a difference in their lives that could potentially make a huge impact on each of them. My goal is to love these children and show them that there is hope in this world even under difficult circumstances such as theirs. Between now and July 15th I must raise upwards of $6,000.00 dollars in order to allow me to go to Ghana Africa for 3 months to spend time with these children. That money will go towards my fees for living and eating as well as round trip plane ticket, vaccinations, visa, required travel insurance, and fee's that the organization requires. It is a steep deadline for me but I feel that this is my calling and I accept this challenge. I hope you will join me in my journey by donating any small amount to my cause and if not then offer your prayers for me please. This is a big step for me in life and is an adventure i'm ready for.
