Pam Gilkey Needs Open Heart Surgery

A dear friend of mine, Pam Gilkey, has to have open heart surgery to replace her mitral valve.  This is essential surgery for her.  Many people in her family have died young of cardiac disease.

Pam has been my hairdresser for many years.  I know that she has helped many people who have been in dire circumstances themselves.  I benefited from her generosity when my husband and I were experiencing financial difficulties (to put it mildly).  Pam cut my hair for free and did not expect any return from me.  I am so grateful to her both for her help and her example. 

When we were texting the other night, Pam said: “We help each other when we can and however we can with no expectations of getting back.  That’s what makes our world a great place.  Unselfishness. And thoughtful people who care.”

Asking for help is not Pam’s way, but she does need financial assistance to get through the next few months so I am asking for her.  Although she has medical insurance, her bills will still be very high.  Also, she will not be able to work after the surgery for, we estimate, three months.  She has no savings to get her through this difficult time.  So, she’ll need help to pay her mortgage, utilities, insurance and all the other demands of daily living.

I would be so grateful—and I know Pam will be, too—if you could contribute to this fund to help her through this trying time.  Any amount would be wonderful.  And, if you are having financial troubles yourself, please just keep her in your heart.
