100Km Run for Women's Refuge Nelson Bay
To my dear family and friends,
In two weekends time I will be running the gruelling Northface 100km Ultra Marathon on the off road trails in the Blue Mountains. I have been training since October and despite my old age I am the fittest and healthiest I have ever been. Yesterday I knocked out 44km from Narrabeen to Palm Beach Lighthouse and Back over 5 hours. I have been running more than 80km of off road trail a week for the last 5 weeks. A huge amount of time, pain, eating and training has gone into this race. I have definitely found an animal inside me!
My fantastic mother, Mum, donates much of her time at the Yacaaba women's refuge in Nelson Bay. This refuge survives through basic government funding and donations. The centre helps many women in need, often once a crisis has emerged in their lives.
Over 500 clients are seen a year. These people are suffering or recovering from
violence or abuse, grief and loss, depression, relationship breakdown and
separation. Therapy Groups are held semi
regularly to help provide strategies to strengthen clients' confidence. I would be incredibly grateful if you could help me get to my 100km goal of $1500.
