Help us renovate Steuart Hill Academic Academy in West Baltimore!
As a resident of West Baltimore, I have become very involved in the community and getting to know my neighbors. Having put together and participated in many youth events and programs, I have also gotten to work with the children here in the city and understand there can be unique unfortunate experiences that can hinder a child's ability to learn.
In fact, students at Steuart Hill were very recently impacted by the loss of a beautiful 8 year old student who was struck and killed while on her way home from the school. The accident also injured others and the vehicle was being driven by an underage boy. This only reiterates the importance of taking a stand and doing something to make this community safer and more vibrant for the youth.
This tragedy affected the entire city. After attending the vigil and speaking to many concerned parents, faculty and neighbors, a group of concerned residents and faculty decided we wanted to do something to show these children that they are valued and loved. Something to show how important they and their success is for this community.
The faculty and staff at Steuart Hill have done a tremendous job, but they need our help to complete some renovation projects that they have been struggling to find funding for. We all think it is incredibly important that these children start off their school year in an exciting and positive way.
That is why we are requesting your assistance with funding the following projects:
1) Renovation of the school auditorium with new carpeting, freshly painted walls and repairs to the electrical system
2) Repainting of the school hallways, cafeteria, main foyer and gymnasium
3) Repair to the gymnasium basketball court with wall padding, mascot design and scoreboard
