Volunteer Work Trip to Uganda

In June of 2016 I accepted a volunteer opportunity to head to Kampala, Uganda that will take place starting September 1, 2016. While there, we will be working to fix and rehabilitate community facilities that have grown tired and worn. These facilities are imperative to the community's development and are one of the few sources of income for KEST.

In the past, I have traveled on volunteer trips to Thailand, the Czech Republic, and Mexico where we helped rebuild homes in extremely remote areas and provided food and clean water in areas that were severely lacking these essentials. I've realized that although bringing supplies and tangible items is very valuable - one of the most important things you can give someone is your time. I worked alongside children as young as six years old fielding farms in Thailand, and the appreciation they had for someone just wanting to talk with them was incredible. 

These people from all over the world that I've helped serve have all had amazing stories. I'd like to continue to make these stories more visible by bringing my camera this time around, and sharing them upon my return. We are often so oblivious to the communities around the world that live in completely different environment than our own, and that need our help. Nearly 1/2 of the world’s population — more than 3 billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day. More than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty — less than $1.25 a day.

I'm asking for your help in getting to Uganda in September - even if it's a dollar, anything helps! I am so grateful for the wonderful encouragement my family and have friends have provided, and am now hoping to build the financial support to get me there. Thank you!!!
