On Wednesday, 10/11/2017 my big sister Alana Posluszny, or as many of you know her as, Alana Karma, got into a terrible car wreck. She is a strong figure in the community, as she is a performer, spiritual teacher, artist, friend, environmentalist, student, etc. She is only 21 years old and already a graduate student at USF studying entrepreneurship and business so that she can open an art center to teach kids positive ways to direct their energy to prevent them from falling astray. She graduated with her undergraduate degree of a Bachelors in Fine Arts this previous Fall with a 4.0 GPA and Honors. Anyone that knows her knows that she is the most incredible, loving, grateful, intelligent, and kind “faerie” as she calls herself, in this universe.
She has been in the ICU ever since the accident. We have recieved many requests for updates and will be posting them periodically on the page. Right now, she isn't in the best shape still but she is pulling through and her first 48 hours have passed and she has been improving at a dramatic rate despite her injuries.
She is still critically injured and there has been so much done to help repair her injuries so far, but our family doesn't want to go in-depth to protect her privacy.
Point being, Alana is in a bad place. The emotional toll it has been taking on all of us is indescribable, and even though it is only a few days into this nightmare we have already been needing to face the financial costs of this. Alana's car was completely totalled and put in impound, and we were told today that even after she gets out of ICU she will need additional care.
The hospital co-pays (what we have to pay after insurance coverage) have already been accumulating in the thousands. The costs of her extended stay, LTAC, inpatient care, the court bills from the accident, etc have been extensive and beyond anything we could imagine. This is the reason we now have gotten to a point where we need to ask for help from our family, friends, and the community in addition to your prayers, support, positive energy, and love.
Thank you all so much in advance, this is the hardest thing our family has ever had to go through and we are living in our nightmares everyday now and any help at all will make so much of a difference for us.
