Delphines Orphanage Lima

Donation protected
This summer I have spent 2 months working at Delphines Orphanage in Lima . Here I had the chance to meet Diego, Piero, Marlon, Christian, JuanPier, Jesus, Jerson and Smith. They're bright 12-16 years old kids who were abandoned by their families and lived on the streets or who's loved ones physically or verbally abused them. At Los Delphines they find a place to feel home again and the opportunity of a safe future.

Unfortunately, the funds are very short at the moment and this institution struggles to provide for all the children that it could provide for.

HELP ME RAISE FUNDS TO SUPPORT CASA HOGAR AND MAKE SURE THOSE BOYS AND MORE LIKE THEM WILL HAVE THE CHANCE OF A BETTER FUTURE!

WHO are the children?

Casa Hogar Los Delphines takes up children and teenagers who are 12-16 years old. Most of them were abandoned by their families and found on the streets or are taken from homes where they experience physical/ verbal violences or are simply ignored. Often, they were forced to work or beg on the streets from a young age. When found by the police or if recognized by their teachers they are taken to Casa Hogar where a familiar environment is created and where they are empowered to start off new.

HOW does Casa Hogar los Delphines make a change in their life?

Juan and his team have taken up this 'Casa Hogar' more than 25 years ago. By taking care of the children's' personal development and giving them a place that they can call home, many of the children have succeeded to finish their schools, and go to university or gain technical training to find jobs that make them self-sufficient.
At Los Delfines orphanage, they have found a place where they are provided with shelter, food, clothes, education and love.

With the support of psychologist, they overcome their traumas and develop the self-confidence and strength to one day become successful and strong young men, as well as good parents.
Thanks to the nutrition that they get, they become active and focused.
The attention and importance that they are given by educators and volunteers contributes to them believing in themselves again: Juan Pier wants to be a chef, he often cooks peruvian dished for the whole casa hogar. Jesus wants to be a lawyer, to defend those people like him that he feels are given.

WHY support Casa Hogar Los Delphines?

According to a study by INEI, 1,7 million children from 6 to 16 years are forced to work in Peru. Of these, 850,000 children are under 13 years old.
Most of these children stop going to school when they start working.
The population of children that are brought to Los Delphines experience mental or physical violences, some of them at home others when they work on the streets, as they need to work to provide for their food and money.

In the past 25 years, Casa Lugar has given home to 4,300 children or adolescents. The main goal here is to re-educate them, give them the support necessary to finish school and help them develop skills to do manual jobs or the chance to go to university. During their time at Los Delphines, the organization also works with their families if possible in order to reintegrate the children into their homes if the situation allows it.

From my experience, Casa Hogar does a great job and provides for the first time a family to those individuals. It gives those guys that were born in the wrong place at the wrong time a chance to start off new.

WHAT will the funds be dedicated to?

With an added 600$, 10 children can be harboured in the house and this is the amount needed to cover all cost including doctors, food and eventually transportation for trips etc. Normally books and clothes are donated by organizations or individuals. .

Take the time to donate so that these children can have the opportunity of a safe future and know that as humans we have not forgotten what it means to care for each other!
