Cedric Dubler - what an inspiration! He is the first decathalete in Australia to qualify for the Olympics in sixteen years. He shares his struggles, his dreams, his achievements and does so in the hope to inspire young athletes. A down to earth humble young man who is proof that when you give one hundred percent anything is possible.
Cedric is supported by a strong family unit. They work tirelessly to raise funds to take care of the financial side for what an elite athlete needs to succeed. They are very proud and do not ask for help. Australia does not support elite athletes financially, this is a self funded sport! So Australia we need to get behind this young man!
A little bit of info about what costs are involved for an elite athlete: Travel to international and domestic for training and qualifying competitions along with equipment transport - the excess baggage...wow! Medical costs involve a Physio, Chiro, Acupunture, Scans just to name a few. Equipment for a Decathlete for all of the events is mind blowing - Poles $1000 x6, Javelins $1300, Discuses $200, Shot Puts, Starting Blocks, bins for ice baths, medicine balls and the list goes on! Then you have Cedric's general living expenses, rent, petrol and an athlete's diet is an added expense with the food they are required to eat. Cedric is at the track 6 hours a day, 3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon then add in recovery time which does not allow Cedric the time to work. This is just a snippet of a Decathlete's training and without support it is almost impossible!
Little Athletics was Cedric's beginning on the road to Rio. He is part of an amazing community of parents, supporters and athletes. Cedric is a true inspiration and role model to each and every young athlete. On social media he shares everything! If a young athlete has a question Cedric will take the time to respond. He has a heart of gold!
Lets get behind Cedric on his road to Rio! Cedric has had to give up his full time job which allows him to train the hours necessary at this level. This is not the only Olympics that Cedric has his sights on! Cedric's goal is to finish in the top eight in these Olympics and to medal at the 2020 Olympics.
Ongoing funding is a need for every elite athlete. Cedric is too talented to not compete so lets try to reach a goal of $15000 to keep his dream alive! As part of the Little Athletics community and being a proud Australian let us do what we do best and support Cedric.

Cedric and his family are not asking, we are, Aspley Little Athletics, where Cedric began and who are part of the community where so many young children begin with big dreams and the will to achieve their best and Cedric is living proof that it can happen!
