In early April, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It really caught me by surprise and has been rough on this old GOAT. This has been an emotional rollercoaster and has required me to make challenging life changes. I am putting everything I have into my healing and my trust in God, but I still have a long ways to go. Since April, I have had two unsuccessful chemotherapy treatments that landed me in ICU both times due to heart problems and a stroke.
Over the past few months, our community, family, and friends have come together to help without hesitation. Insurance has protected us from the most devastating of the medical expenses, but the many costs that aren't covered by insurance are growing and will continue to do so as I prepare to travel to Duke to continue my treatment.
For the next 8 weeks I will be at the Duke Cancer Center to receive radiation, chemotherapy treatments, and surgery.
Many have asked how they can help support so we decided to open a go fund me account so people who want to help financially can have an opportunity to do so. No contribution is too small, and any amount is greatly appreciated.
For those of you who may be interested, I plan to share the details of my story and treatments on Facebook. I also have a Facebook page setup called “I Run for Rocky”.
