Daisy's Story: A neighbor approached me and asked if I wanted her pitbull that her son had left in her yard for 2 years- he bought Daisy from a breeder when she was a puppy. Daisy was covered in sarcoptic, contagious mange and had never left her yard. She was too scared to walk, so I carried her into the car. Daisy lived with two smaller dogs who were in better condition than she was; their yard was covered in garbage and infested with rats. The family wanted to leave Daisy at a park or dump her at the shelter becuase they were overwhelmed and wouldn't take her to the vet.* I agreed to take her the next day and figure things out later. That was 2 months ago.
Despite all of the neglect and fear Daisy has experienced, she has blossomed into a cuddley, LOVING, playful, silly, girl who wants to lay in my lap and roll around on grass for hours. She does well on leash and loves walks, though she still wants to get back home when she feels anxious.
Vet Care and Boarding: Daisy has been in special boarding for 2 months to keep her away from other animals that could catch her mange. That required special mite baths weekly and caretakers had to change their clothes/gloves after handling her. I paid for all of this on my credit card and received help from a few wonderful friends already. I still have a bill of $2,425 that includes her vet care and one month of boarding/care. I have spent every Saturday with her and I am VERY excited that she is ready for a home. What a love bug. Please help cover her costs so that I can pay the bill and continue to rescue other animals.
