Helping the Homeless PDX-Vancouver

Hi! My name is Rainie Kirkevold. My goal is simple: I want to go downtown in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA to pass out new white socks to people living on the street. Why white socks? Because I know they are like GOLD to those on their feet all day without resources to maintain their socks and shoes. The few times I've done it so far, the reaction is "Wow they're clean! They're new!" Or "Thank you so much. It's really hard living out here." Then it leads to great conversations and sometimes coffee or dinner, or the coat off my husband's back.

So why am I telling you this? Because I need help getting enough white socks:) Would you like to help? I am looking to raise enough money so I can do this on an ongoing basis. A bag of white socks is usually only about $10! So, for $10 you can send me downtown to do what I love and help a lot of people!!!

In some ways it's a simple gesture, but it is also a way to tell a person who gets ignored that we SEE them and even meet a small need. Maybe someday I can make a greater impact. That is certainly my hope. But today, with your help, I can give people white socks...and kindness.
