Nakarara Market Project

Greetings from the village of Nakarara! Although it would seem that I should be finishing up projects and grants at this point in my service, that does not prove to be the case! This market project is part of a larger community improvement project that we have started It will be built along side a larger rain-water catchment tank that the villagers will use for drinking water. This open air covered market will allow villagers the opportunity to sell their goods in one place rather than carrying them around on bicycles or on their heads. It will encourage people to pursue income generating projects and those that are participating in the now completed irrigation project will have a place to sell their abundant produce. Although the largest village in the Ward Nakarara has no organized market place and this project will, we hope, jump start the local economy and encourage growth both for the individuals selling their goods as well as for the village as a whole.
