Padi Needs Us

Greeting Friends and Family from around the world!

Many of you have spent memorable moments with Padi, officially known as the President of Punta Mona, born Blasstell Martinez...

He is more than a neighbor or a passing hello from the beach, he is the man that can look into your soul and call up your dreams, deepest secrets and history. He is in many ways the last of his kind... born at Punta Mona in 1929, he often says my cord is buried right out there in the yard ...

Padi currently is very sick. He has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Two weeks ago he was rushed to Limon Hospital where he was treated for the disease as well as his high blood pressure and cholesterol, his lungs were filled with fluid and they were successfully drained... After about 5 days in the hospital, Padi came home to Punta Mona on March 13 with great joy. His health seemed to be hanging on and stable and his spirits were high, sopped a few people on the domino table and was caring for his chickens... Around lunch on March 19 he started to have very labored breathing and pain in his right lung, Stephen and Sarah, his neighbors and best friends received a walkie talkie call from him at 130 in the morning on March 20, a long night followed, with out rest, tons of fear and lots of prayers. At sunrise we rushed him from Punta Mona on a very high sea and made our way to Cima, the top-notch private hospital in San Jose.  We just didn't want to send him to the regular hospital as it didn't feel he would get the care we felt he deserved.

As of the evening of March 20, Padi has 30% of his heart functioning and is fighting a serious pneumonia that he contracted while in care at Limon Hospital.

We are doing every thing we can in the grave space in time and we are putting the call out for help. The hospital bill is building rapidly...

If you love Padi and have the means to help, please, please help us...

We are hoping for him to be able to return to his home and for him to pull through this hospital stay. We need your prayers and love sent to him... he feels it and this huge community that loves him so much can help...

please feel free to message us directly.
