Rob's Stem Cell Therapy
Thank you for visiting my page! My name is Laurie and I’m trying to raise money to get my best friend and fiance stem cell therapy to treat his ALS.
His ALS began having issues with slurred speech and choking when swallowing. The doctors told him it was stress.. So he exercised more and it didn’t help. Then they sent him to an ear nose & throat specialist that told him he thought it was neurological, but definitely not ALS. Of course we saw many more doctors but no diagnosis. He was on a waiting list to get into KU for months and at the first visit (with EMG) he was diagnosed with Bulbar Onset ALS. That was the 18th of September 2013.
We were in shock for months after that. Then we fell into a comfortable denial, hardly ever talking about it. Anyone who knows Rob will tell you he’s a fighter and never gives up. Rob has participated in every research study he could to help with finding a cure. We have seen the best doctors in our area and traveled hours to see specialists to help. The doctors are only able to treat the symptoms and not the disease. We were at a family get together when someone mentioned the stem cell therapy and that’s when I really began doing the research.
It’s amazing how many ALS patients have had success with the stem cell therapy. Unfortunately insurance doesn’t cover it, so here I am asking for help. Our focus has been on being positive, having faith, and prayer! There is always hope and here it is!! I want to be able to say that we’ve explored every possible option.
