My family and I have just received some devastating news. My mother has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer that needs immediate treatment to try and slow down its growth so she can have the surgery to have it removed. We were hoping that we might be able to help relieve some of her stress as she fights this disease. My mother has worked hard her whole life and has never asked for help. She is very independent and has raised my brother and I on her own since we were 8 and 9 years old. Because of me being in University and my brother returning to College, she has made many sacrifices in order to keep us at home in the house that we grew up in. With this illness my mom will be going through radiation and chemotherapy, then surgery, then more radiation and chemotherapy, and will be unable work for quite some time as she takes on this major health crisis.

The help we may receive will go towards her daily and monthly living expenses, some of her cancer medication that isn’t covered by insurance, travel expenses to and from treatments, and other medical appointments. The less time she has to worry about finances, the more time she has to focus on getting better.  Any assistance at all will be greatly appreciated and we will keep everyone updated on her progress. We know that her positive attitude and witty humour will help get her through the dark times ahead.
