Marty has total heart failure

A musical heart

**PLEASE Read this and the Update**

Hi:

My name is Tony Phillips. I am the brother of Marty Phillips. About three weeks ago my mother and I received terrible news. The WORST…

My brother was near death.

My mother and I rushed from Colorado Springs, CO to Tuft University Hospital in Massachusetts. Marty was in a coma, being kept alive by tubes, wires, cables, doctors and nurses.

On June 10th of this year Martin Phillips was rushed to the hospital with a massive heart failure.  He spent days in an induced coma to preserve his life.

He is now able to sit up, talk, eat and see visitors, but he has a long road to recovery. A machine is keeping his heart going by flowing blood from his heart to an external pump and back into his heart.

In the past few weeks after waking up he has battled numerous setbacks including: blood infections and heart rhythm instability, BUT…

He still is in high spirits. He is telling jokes and remembering the fun he had playing his saxophone with and for his friends.

He has many more weeks to go in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Tuft University Hospital. The SICU is where a hospital keeps its most critical cases.

Even though Marty is in high spirits he still is critically ill.

His thoughts weigh heavily for his son Harrison. Right now he cannot do anything to assist him in his life choices.

He also truly misses his other family members: his incredible coworkers and all of his musical brothers and sisters.

He is blessed to have such a GREAT extended family.

His future is going to be a struggle. His heart’s left ventricle has not recovered yet. In all likelihood he will need more open heart surgeries to install a Left Ventricle Assist Device (LVAD).

After that he will have months if not years of recovery time.

The costs associated with this are beyond enormous. His insurance and disability benefits will only cover so much.

Marty will recover…….I know this. He is very strong in body and spirit and the last and the last thing he needs is to worry about his financial future or the future of his son.

All money raised will go directly to Marty and his son Harrison.

With your help I truly believe that Marty will return to his extended family.

Marty truly loves to play the saxophone. He has played for numerous groups in North and South Boston.

Marty is frequently asked “What is your favorite song to play”

He replied “The next one”

Please help Marty have his “next one”
