My Grandson College Education Fund

Donation protected

My name is Agnes Mack, and I'm trying to raise money for my grandson, Jaysean Carter, college fund. He was accepted  into college at Old Dominion University, located in Norfolk, Virginia.  We live in Chesterfield, Virginia. I have had legal custody of Jaysean and his sister Tiona for the past 6 years. Jaysean graduated this past June from Clover Hill High School with an advanced studies degree. He was on the honor roll while playing varsity football, he was also on the track team, and he has been on the swim team in Creekwood neighborhood for six years. His sister will return back to Clover Hill High School this year and she will be in the 10th grade. I received a phone call at work one day from their  lawyer, appointed by the court. Their lawyers said to me that if I do not take them, they will go into foster care.  There was no one else who wanted to take care of them because of different personal reasons. No other family members had stepped up to the plate. They are good kids; although  both are wonderful and I had a very demanding job. I took them into my home without any hesitation and told them that they would not have to move anymore. During this time I have been very sick I had to have a knee replacement, and I have diabetes, with severe pain everyday. I often wonder if they needed me or I needed them, but I knew that this was an assignment from God that I was not going to fail. Jaysean's father who is my son is incarcerated and will be for at least another 10 years. Their mother is not physically able to keep them because of her living conditions. I will not judge people because that is not what I was put on this earth to do. My grandsons dream is to go to college. He will be first college generation in his immediate family. His mother nor his father had the opportunity to go to college but he wants to make something different of himself. He has done well in school, he is also one of the Lifeguards for Creekwood community. I am retired and had to take bankruptcy in order to take good care of my grandchildren. Jaysean wants to be in the science field and I believe that he can do it. I have always told him that he can do anything he wants to weather it's a scientist or a doctor.  if you put your heart, mind and soul to it and have good values in your life you can achieve your goals. We just found out that after taking the subsidized loan and an unsubsidized loan, and a small grant that he received from the school. We are still $10,000 short from the total of $24,000 that we need. We need the money before school starts the 3rd week in August, 2016. Jaysean is a very humble and thankful person. Everyone in school and in the community really loves him and often speaks about how well he has been trained and what a good person he is plans. His plans arek to come back to the inner city where he spent most of his early childhood and help mentor and teach young boys and girl that they too can do something with their lives, whether their parents are in their life or not. You can become anything that you want to, and his dream is to help people by being a scientist.  He plans to major in biology or biotechnology. Please help this young man and he will pay it back by helping others reach their goals also. Thank you in advance for anything that you willing to do. every dollar given will not go to waste. I have faith for our young generation.

("DEAR WORLD")--...The young -man that you see featured in this particular account,...is "my son".  He was born JAN. 18, 1998.  I remember the day well,...because "I am his father",..".and I am very "proud" to have become him.  I have been incarcerated for eleven years now, so when I left society...my son was only "seven" years old.   He's "18" right now, and by the time I arrive,.."he should already be a college graduate."  JAYSEAN was born in "FULTONHILL" (EASTEND" OF RICHMOND, VA.) but was primarily raised in JACKSON WARD &  WHITCOMB COURT PROJECTS: which happens to be two of Richmond's most notorious housing areas.  In a great effort to give him his Fighting Chance, ( since obviously these crime-ridden / drug infested areas could easily alter my son's chance to live a full life),... my mother and I fought through a court of law to have both Jaysean and his younger sister (Tiona) remove from the volatile/hostile environments that both myself and their mother had them subject to, and relocated to
Chesterfield Virginia, where are my mother (their grandmother) has raised them for the past 7 - 8 years.

See,...this isn't some sort of sob story about how my particular young black child had it any harder than the last. I'm simply bringing to vivid color what obstacles existed, admist my son's rise to young black greatness! I am A VERY PROUD FATHER to a young man that has persevered true life's obstacles, guardianship issues, and not having the luxury of either his father or his mother there to instruct him along the way. Sean maintain honors classes with a graduating GPA of 2.7 all while playing varsity football, track, & field, and doubling as a swim team participant / lifeguard.

My son is amazing and he's driven with the will to overcome anything that threatens to render him powerless! He understands that coming from two parents who never walk across anyone's graduation stage that it's his duty to suceed where both his parents fell short.

So,..  "I" summon YOU (#WORLD), to donate whatever small sacrifice that truly is on your heart so that a young man that truly wants more out of life than the value of a few Cadillacs like his dad used to drive,... can fulfill his greatness, and not be deprived of nothing short of a full ride to college, where true dreams are realized...

Sincerely,
... "A PROUD FATHER", and A PARENT... (just like "YOU"!!)
