Sierra is a single, black, mother of 3 seeking reprieve in the shelter after leaving an unsafe living situation. She lost her service job at the beginning of quarantine and has been struggling since to feed/take care of her family.
I've been working on healthy meals and outings, and neighbors have gathered donated items for her children, but what Sierra really needs is transportation ASAP. Attempting to raise the money needed to get her car out of the shop. I verified the transmission has to be replaced along with a major oil leak and possible radiator crack.
If you live in Austin, Sierra has been your neighbor since 1981. She grew up in Rosewood, on the East Side, in a family filled with addiction. All the matriarchs in her family have passed. She really has no support system. Navigating city transit with 3 girls(11, 9 and 2yo) is very difficult in the summer heat, let alone a pandemic. Without a car, it's nearly impossible to accompany the girls to school, get to work and back to school to pick them up on public transit; Independence for this family means mobility.
Please help me pool the funds to make it possible for Sierra to get to doctor appointments, take her girls swimming, to visit their Grandmother's gravestone, to get a meal privately, etc. Sierra and her girls deserve to be PROTECTED and CARED for. Help me get this family back on their feet and AWAY from the street!
