Good Game - An art quarterly based in Philadelphia
Philadelphia has a thriving art scene, filled with amazing artists, writers, art collectives, galleries, organizations, and museums. But, how would you know?
I would like to launch a new publication entitled Good Game, a printed art quarterly for the city of brotherly love. Funding Good Game will generate a sustainable publication that would further expand networks and opportunities for artists, while conveying new forms of expression. Taking inspiration from such predecessors as Cabinet Magazine (Brooklyn), Proximity Magazine (Chicago), Elephant Magazine (London), and Xtra magazine (Los Angeles), Good Game aims to nurture connections between Philadelphia based artists, writers, collectives, alternative spaces, commercial galleries, museums, and educational programs, as a means of supporting and promoting a dynamic and growing creative community.
The inspiration for Good Game stems from the need for Philadelphia to have a platform for dialogue between the local arts community and the national and international art world. For this reason, Good Game will feature not only Philadelphia-based artists, events, and exhibitions, but national and international ones as well. I am asking you, the patron, to contribute now so that we may get Good Game up and running. To do so we will need $8,500 to cover the printing and distribution costs for the first issue. Good Game has potential to be Philadelphia's first magazine devoted to the city's arts and culture, but I need your help to get this project on its feet! Once Good Game is established, I am certain that it will be an awesome success!
The first issue will include artwork and writings by Zoe Strauss, Thom Lessner, Jesse Butcher, Chip Schwartz, Sam Belkowitz, Jamie Diamond, Barbara Jenkings, Issac Lin, Matthew Pruden, Matthew Suib, Nadia Hironaka, Christopher P. Mcmanus, Lee Arnold, Thomas Devaney, Micah Danges, Will Brown, J Makary, Maria Dumlao, Jessie Pires, Shana Illingworth, Josh Rickards, Helen Cahng, Drew Dunlap, Michelle Chong, Gabie Strong, Danielle McCullough, Tim Eads, Carlos Avendano, Raul Romero, Austen Brown, Stacey Dougherty, Lord Whimsey, Lauren Ruth, Allison Dobkin, and Beth Heinly.
