<div>On July 7, 2025, Richard was involved in a motorcycle accident. A van pulled out in front of him, and he hit them at approximately 50 miles an hour. Richard died on impact; he was life-flighted to Baystate Springfield.

<div>He had broken 28 bones. Both of his lungs collapsed. He had 10 emergency surgeries to secure his life. He broke every limb in his body. He had countless tubes coming out of him to keep him alive.

<div>From there, he came to at about July 12th. He was able to talk. He didn’t lose his ability to communicate or his memory. We were overjoyed; this was a miracle.
</div>

<div>At this point, Richard Could not walk Or move his arms. He had to be fed every meal all he could move was his eyes. He was also in a neck Brace. He couldn’t use the bathroom himself or Wash himself. I was there for him every day that I didn’t work during the time. This was the hardest time of the whole experience.

<div>Once Richard got a bit better in the hospital and was able to stand up in a back brace because he had a fractured spine. He was transferred to a rehab facility, encompass in ludlow. In this facility, Richard stayed positive and put his best foot forward and continued to heal.

<div>He had three hours of physical therapy every day. He tried his best to make progress. Every time I came to visit. He had a new skill. He went to appointment after appointment with good and bad news we found out his spine had healed after four weeks. Another miracle.

<div>Richard had surgery in his left knee since it shattered during the crash, he has metal all throughout it after the surgery he was permitted to walk on his left leg again. He took no breaks. He continued to train his body every day. After five weeks, Richard was safely using a walker. Another miracle.

<div>Richard was diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury, a nerve injury, so he lost his ability to ever move his left arm. Not only will he never use his arm, but he will also be in pain for the rest of his life. Richard describes his pain as the worst suffering he could imagine. He's sometimes in pain for a full day at a time.

<div>I take care of Richard. I am his girlfriend/fiancé. He lives at my house. I must do almost everything for him. I had to relieve myself from my job so that I could be there for him through this rough time. This is difficult for all of us. 
</div>

<div>We are asking for donations to help with <strong>Richard’s medical bills</strong>. Not only medical bills, but also medications that the insurance won’t cover. We are also asking for help because food, clothes, and other necessities have become expensive. <strong>Richard has a long road of recovery ahead of him</strong>. He won’t be able to work for a very long time. The people that love and care for him are gonna have to come together to help him through this long, very difficult journey.
