I'm Mads (they/them), and I am going on a big, exciting, kind of scary experience of getting top surgery.

Coming out as non-binary has changed my life. This may come as a surprise to some, but I'm over the moon that I can finally be my authentic self.

One of my biggest hurdles in being truly me, and from many a conversation with my doctor, has been my chest.

Now that I understand myself, I know more than anything that top surgery will be a lifesaving procedure. Every day in my body is a reminder, and I simply cannot wait any longer.

As many folks know, trying to go through NHS routes is almost a non-starter with multi-year wait times. With my daily strife, I have to find an alternative.

Here's the cost breakdown:

Surgery Cost: From 65,000 SEK (Approx £4750 GBP) - Final cost TBD

Housing / Maintenance Cost: Approx £1,500 - Inclusive of a place to stay during initial recovery/between appointments and food costs for myself and my partner

Flights to/from Malmö: Approx £500 for myself and my partner
