Hello, I'm Stormy, a small town cosmetologist that recently had a below the knee amputation of my left leg. We are accepting donations to help myself and my family who have gave great sacrifices to care for me. Here's my story.

I am Diabetic, have neuropathy in both feet and hands and have fibromyalgia. I've done hair since 2001.

I had a crack on the side of my foot from just dry skin. I had been taking care of it myself for about 2 months. On Friday June 6th I seen some swelling so I contacted my WONDERFUL wound care Dr and she told me to come on in on Monday. By Monday morning I knew there was a bad problem from the amount of redness and severe swelling. Dr Freeman how a massive infection hidden down this crack. She immediately sent me to have xray and bloodwork. As we waited on these test I went home to prob it up and rest. Tuesday morning I woke up exhausted and unable to even eat all day. By 3am I was having trouble sleeping and by 8am I could not catch my breath and was headed to ER. Once there things got crazy and fast. My oxygen was 100% but I still felt like I was smothering, it was at this point I do not remember the next 4 days of my life, at all. Nothing from that time has even came back as a memory. My family made sacrifices to stay with me and by my side. From this point this is what I've been told. The Dr, Dr Clampitt at Smyth County worked until they were at the point of pointing me on a ventilator. He came in the room and told my Dad "I got, she's in DKA and is septic and we need to get her to Abingdon immediately. Keep in mind I don't have a single memory of this. They get me to Abingdon and in icu. The infection in the foot has progressed into ganegreen and I was soectic which thru my key tones out of whack and no electrolytes. They started treated everything to get me well enough to go to surgery. On Friday June 13, I went into surgery on my foot to remove my pinky toe and debasement. Sat they uncovereverd everything and things were bad. It was at that point the Dr it's your leg or your life so Tuesday night at 11pm I came out of surgery with 1 leg. This is day 3 post op amputation and with a slight fall last night things are going great. The sepsis is cleared and my sugars are coming down. It's going to be months of recovery and time sacrificed by my family and friends. We are asking for any support you can give even if it's just sharing my story.
