Therapy Dog Morgan vs. Cancer Fund

Donation protected

This page was created for Morgan (and her family). Morgan is an 8 1/2 year old female golden retriever and registered therapy dog.
In 2014, Morgan followed in the footsteps of her younger Bulldog Aunt and became a registered therapy dog in Cleveland, OH (her hometown, GO CAVS!!). Only a few months after becoming registered, she and her family moved to Augusta, GA.  Morgan's registration and LOVE for people afforded her the opportunity to visit patients and staff at a number of locations including, but not limited to, Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Georgia Cancer Center, Children's Hospital of Georgia, Ronald McDonald House and Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.  Morgan enjoyed going anywhere she could offer some tail wags in exchange for some human attention.
Early in 2015, a lump was discovered on Morgan's right thorax.  In July of 2015, it was discovered to have been a mast cell tumor and was successfully removed the following month.
Then in June of 2016, Morgan was in the process of making her final rounds to see all her friends she had made in Augusta because she was about to move to Atlanta, when her veterinarian found a lump on her right hind limb during her routine annual exam. It was quickly determined it was another mast cell tumor and surgery was performed on June 10th to remove it.  A biopsy performed confirmed that this mast cell tumor was not completely removed and now there's concern of it spreading.
Morgan has been referred to The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in Athens, GA.  After additional tests, there's concern around her right popliteal and right groin lymph nodes. It has been advised to have those two removed to remove any further mast cell disease from her body as well as help determine if spread of the disease is present.  Morgan will also need radiation therapy to prevent her tumor on her right hind limb from regrowing since it was not completely removed. Additionally, chemotherapy may also be recommended if the results from the removed lymph nodes suggest there is spread of the disease.

We are hoping to have Morgan's lymph nodes removed as soon as possible and start radiation therapy shortly thereafter.  Her surgery will consist of a minimum of two night (pre and post surgery) stay at UGA. Her radiation therapy will consist of 15 treatments, that will be given over 3 weeks, every day, Monday through Friday.

As we have more information, we will share it regularly!!
Please feel free to follow Morgan on her journey on her Facebook page www.facebook.com/morgan.wozn

Morgan is looking forward to continuing her work as a therapy dog and making friends and bringing smiles in the Atlanta area as soon as she is well again.  Morgan's family consists of her mom (Brandy), her dad (Dan), her Siberian husky brother (Mojito) and she's looking forward to welcoming her new human brother or sister this November! Morgan has a lot to look forward to this year!

This page was created to help offset some of the medical expenses related to Morgan's current diagnosis.  These expenses have compounded quickly after having financed two previous surgeries. And while treatment decisions for Morgan, strongly, do not want to be made based on financial abilities, this comes at a time where her family has moved cities and are transitioning jobs and getting reestablished. So, there are some concerns about the ability to cover the growing expenses.

Any donation you're able to contribute to Morgan's medical costs during this time are extremely and greatly appreciated!!  There are not enough words, hugs or tail wags to express how grateful we are for your generosity!
