Final Expenses for Disabled Veteran

Thank you for visiting this page!

If you look at the photograph, you probably  are smiling at the love and the unbreakable bond between a father and daughter. Joe and Amanda Dragos had an unwaivering love and loyalty to each other. Sadly, Joe has passed away, and Amanda is left to carry on.

Joe was a single full time parent. Even though he was in the military, he cared for and supported Amanda through thick and thin.

Joe was medically retired from the US Air Force in 2001. He was forced to retire after a surgery that very nearly  took his life. As time went on, he had continuous medical problems. A battle with Leukemia, and dozens of serious medical conditions that needed constant attention. Through it all, Amanda was his caregiver. Joe purchased a piece of land and settled in southern Missouri. He was living his dream, and Amanda was the light of his life. They raised horses and gave refuge to dogs and cats that were strays. They couldn't let a dog or cat be homeless and suffer. Amanda balanced being a full time college student with caring for both her Dad and the animals. They lived rather modestly in a motorhome parked on the land, while Joe worked on building an apartment for Amanda.

Sadly, that changed forever on March 29, 2016. Amanda woke to smoke from a fire on the stove. She discovered that Joe had suddenly passed away. He was only 54.

The days to follow were extremely difficult. Amanda, now a bit over 22 years old,  was forced to bury her Father. She was faced with having to care for the many animals alone.  In the days that have followed, it has become increasingly difficult.

Amanda is now faced with a very real and difficult task. Joe did not leave things easy. First and foremost, Joe's final expenses are unpaid. To date, there has been no life insurance policy found, and there was no life insurance through the military. Amanda does not have the financial resources to pay them,  nor does she have the financial ability to care for the animals. She is willing to sell off some of the livestock, but that is a difficult process as well.  Harder still, she is now at the point where she has only a small amount of money to care for herself and basic living expenses. As the area she is located is economically repressed, it is extremely difficult to find employment. Further, as no will has been located, Amanda will have to pay legal expenses for probate before she can liquidate any assets.

To our 'Family in Blue' and all others who may see this: Amanda has spent most of her young life caring for her Dad. an Air Force veteran and retiree.  She has had burdens placed on her shoulders that no child should have to bear. I am asking you all to dig as deep as possible and donate if you can. She is struggling financially, and the future looks very dark. All proceeds will be used for final expenses, feed for the horses and small animals, legal fees and Amanda's day-to-day living.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and on behalf of Amanda, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any contribution you can make.
