Denise Dyer Dixon - some relief

Donation protected
This account has been set up for Denise Dyer Dixon in hopes that she can have some relief, not only monetarily but also in realizing she is not alone and that there are many people who care about her!

Last week, I text Denise to see if she wanted to go to our classmates "Elvis" performance.  As usual, I didn't get a quick response which lead me to start thinking about when the last time I talked to her was.  It had been a while - so then I start getting uneasy -  so I reach out to her daughter who tells me she's going over to check on her and that she will let me know.

When I did hear from her the next day - she was not in good place.  Nor had she been since April 1st - and I had no idea.   I really should be a better friend at checking up on her.  I get so wrapped up in my own mess that I let too much time pass.  I know that she doesn't leave the house very often - doctor visits or something for her grandbabies - not much else.   It physically exhausts her to get dressed.   Just styling her hair is work.  She doesn't like talking on the phone nor does she initiate text messages.  She is rarely on facebook.   It's kinda like she lives in a bubble.

After eleven years though her bubble has busted! Workers comp has decided that her neck is fine.  Three or 4 surgeries and a steel plate later and an MRI showing the last surgery made her neck unstable and caused another disc, close to her brain stem to rupture - but the Doctor (workers comp) says she is able to go back to work!  Oh - and then they cancel her health insurance and she can't afford any of her meds.

Along with the disabling injury, Denise also suffers with Rheumatiod Arthritis, Hashimoto's thyroidism and depression.   The RA has her feet covered in nodules - causing her balance to be off and her fingers are knotted and stiff - not allowing her to write easily - which is something she used to really enjoy.  Mornings are painful and she moves very slow.   The Hashimoto's is an extreme of hypothyroidism - fatigue, hair loss, heart problems  . . . She endures more pain in one day than you could ever imagine.  It's easiest for her to sit - in her recliner - in her bubble - than to try to exist in the craziness of the world.

After her text, of telling me about her workers comp and insurance being cancelled, Shawn and I showed up at her house  to find out that she has NO MONEY.  Her house is in need of lots of repairs and her house payments are behind.  Her air conditioner is not working - and it's only 96 degrees outside!  Her car is broke down - and she can't go anywhere - even to pick up her meds - if she wanted too.  She feels completely isolated and alone.

Any assistance you can help Denise with will be greatly appreciated.  I can do a lot of the phone calls and physical work to help around her house - but will welcome any assistance!   Anyone with any other ideas - I will welcome those too!
