Daddy's Lung Cancer Fund

Donation protected
My name is Gretchen Hummel, I am the daughter of a wonderful, kind-hearted man who has the biggest heart of anyone I know. He has 3 amazing daughters and a huge family that loves him.
June 21, 2016 was the day my world changed forever.
That is the day I found out my dad has lung cancer. I will admit there have been more than a few tears shed. Daddy had been having a pain in his side for quite some time. He also developed a cough that would cause him to have even more pain in his side. **Side note: Daddy isn't a smoker and has never been a smoker** He went to the doctor a while back and the doctor brilliantly told him to lose weight and that would solve his pain problem. Daddy lost the weight but the pain continued. Finally he went back to the doctor and they got some X-rays done of his chest. The X-rays revealed a tissue mass in his lung. The doctors wanted to do some further examinations and scans, so the following Monday they got a CT scan of the area. And to our dismay the CT scan showed that it was in fact lung cancer...
Since I was little I've always looked up to my dad. We are very similar people; same personalities, same stupid humor, and same love for acting like children. We've had some of the best times together. We've laughed, cried, and yelled at each other together. When I turned 18 I moved in with my dad to live a better life. Without him I probably wouldn't have gone to college, or made the college basketball team, found 2 jobs with people who are so generous and great, and I know I wouldn't be as independent as I am today. Daddy has always told me to go for it. I'd come to him with an idea of something I wanted to do or a trip I wanted to take, and he has always been the one to support me on those decisions. It's easy to say that he was my first hero and he continues to be my hero...
Finding out about this lung cancer was a complete shock for me and my family. Friday July 1st we went to the Pulmonologist to get some more information about what they had found in his lungs. We found out that it was most likely stage 4 lung cancer, and they found two tumors and a swollen lymph node in both of his lungs. We found out that the mass on the right side of his body has metastisized itself to his rib which has caused some sort of fracture to the bone therefore causing his pain. Right now we don't know how much is covered under his insurance, but it's going to cost a lot of money. The doctor said they won't be doing any kind of surgery, but we are looking at radiation and chemotherapy to shrink the tumors. July 6th daddy went in for a biopsy to find out for sure what kind of lung cancer in order for us to find out how to treat this specific lung cancer. He  is scheduled for a PET scan on Friday July 8th and an MRI on Monday July 11th to make sure the cancer hasn't spread to his brain or anywhere else.
Daddy has been the main source of money coming in the house for quite some time now, and with him not being able to work that much (or at all soon) money is going to be extremely tight. Both myself and my sister have two jobs and that's not enough to pay for everything. In these coming months rent, bills, and putting food on the table will be a struggle not to mention the cost of treatment. That's why I'm putting this fund together to try and raise money for him. The MRI and PET scan alone are going to cost a lot of money, and then adding radiation and chemotherapy that he will have to do (no idea on how many rounds will be needed). Insurance will cover some of the medical bills, but not all. It would mean so much for me and my family for any help that you all could provide.  Whether it be kind encouraging words or a helpful donation, anything can make this experience a little bit better. We would forever be greatful and I can hopefully make a few more memories with my father. I love him more than words can describe; he is my world.
