Accomodation: AU$8,000 (3.5star 8 nights).
Air Fare: AU$3,300.
Hi, I am Helen Moshi and my daughter Magdalena Moshi is representing Tanzania in Rio Olympics 2016. Magdalena is competing in the 50 metres Freestyle for Tanzania on August 12th, and besides being part of the first ever Tanzanian swimming team at an Olympics, will be the first to represent at 3 Olympics. Also she will be only the 2nd Tanzanian female to reach this goal.
Magdalena was born to a Tanzanian father and raised in Tanzania where she developed the passion for swimming. In 2002 while watching the Manchester Commonwealth Games on TV noted Tanzania did not have a swim team and asked why? Then decided she would be that swim team and set her dream to achieve her goal.
Since then she has qualified for Bejing, London and now Rio.
Her dream has always been to be an inspiration to young Tanzanian women, that they can go out and achieve their dreams, that it is ok to go to school have an education and also play sport.
Magdalena struggled at school, but continued to face her challenges and now is studying a Ph.D in Medicine at The University of Adelaide and recently recieved The University medal for outstanding Acadaemic achievement.
After London 2012 Magdalena sustained a shoulder injury, where Drs informed her she would not swim again. With determination and great support from the practioners and Allied Health Staff at Sportsmed SA and coach Jill Doyle from Clovercrest, Magdalena has again qualified to represent Tanzania.
Throughout Magdalena's career and study her family has been her supporting team, so I please ask for assistance to help me to make the journey to Rio to continue to support my daughter.
I greatly appreciate any assistance given to myself and my daughter,
especially to assist her towards her ultimate goal.
Her goal to be a role model for young people to have a dream.
A dream to achieve and stand up and be counted to face your challenges and to be proud to be a women in today's society.
