Raising for Ruth

Ruth was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2011. She has undergone a double mastectomy, a botched breast reconstruction (leaving a hole in her chest for over a year), the cancer metastasized to her brain.  After Cyberknife (radiation) and chemo the last 7 years, Ruth had fluid creating pressure to her skull.  Ruth has undergone multiple surgeries which included removing a skullcap in her temporal region.  Currently in the hospital, her brain was infected and is receiving antibiotics intravenously the last two weeks and will continue at home for another approximate 6 weeks.  She will then return to the hospital to have an artificial cap put back in.  The last 2 years have created a tremendous hardship to her and her husband.  Any money will go to paying medical bills, and continued care for Ruth.      Ruth had worked part time for a fabrics store.  She does sewing for the elderly who are not able to sew for themselves.  Ruth and Steve have taken in a homeless family, and children whose parents where temporarily struggling, even though it created a hardship for them. Her husband, Steve, volunteer's his time cutting grass, shoveling snow, and other odd jobs for the elderly in the neighborhood.  He also plays violin in a chamber orchestra which plays every Monday night for nursing homes and elder care facilities.      Ruth's medical issues have created an extreme hardship over the years for her and her husband.  All donations will be used to pay medical expenses and continued care for Ruth.  There is an immediate need and all donations will be used solely for this purpose.
