Help Rebecca move into a bigger vehicle!

My name is Rebecca. I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail (AT) in 2019 and found that as a trans queer disabled veteran, the wilderness gave me sense of comfort and security. I found a farm along the AT that hosts hikers, which is where I live and feel safe being. I’m also an activist, normally working as a street medic and trying to help with social justice causes when I’m able. I was going to live and work at the farm, and was planning to thru-hike the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in 2020, and the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) in 2021. Because of COVID-19, it isn’t safe to hike the PCT or CDT, and the owner of the farm where I live has decided to close it to hikers, meaning I can no longer live at the farm. This also comes at a poor time as my Veteran’s disability rating is being reevaluated and my compensation, the money the VA pays me for service connected disabilities, is being lowered.

I have to be moved out by July, and I only have a small car to live in. I’m looking to get a SUV or van to live out of, which would allow me to be in nature and to feel safe. Having a sustainable vehicle would also allow me to feel safe between wilderness destinations, allow me to make in-person medical appointments at the VA, and be able to make it to support social justice movements.
