In 2008, Doc had a major fall while helping someone trim some trees. With a broken back, his road to recovery was long and hard. This spring (2016), he started having complications related to his back surgery in 2008. He recently found out that he must have major surgery on his back once again or risk permanent paralysis. The surgery will be done as soon as possible.
We all know that insurance doesn't always cover all expenses. Doc will also lose a significant amount of income during his recovery this summer due to not being able to fully perform his job as a pastor, Waverly Municipal Band director, and Band Camp at Wartburg College director. God willing, he will be nearly back to normal by the time Wartburg College resumes in the fall.
Let's join together to show him some of the love he has shown countless individuals over his many years of teaching and community service. Whatever amount you can give will help with the financial burden that came along with this unexpected surgery.
Please join me in supporting Doc and his wife, Elizabeth, with money and prayers during this difficult time.
NOTICE: We recently learned that Wartburg College has a policy forbidding professors from accepting money from students. "Current Wartburg students, and their families, are certainly encouraged to be supportive of Dr. Hancock's needs, but due to regulations, may not contribute to this fund (conflict of interest)."
Thanks so much!
