Invest in Women of HOPE

Today, women are the fastest growing incarcerated population in the U.S. and risk factors such as physical and/or sexual abuse and low self-esteem exacerbate this reality. Because the number of incarcerated women is small in comparison to their male counterparts, the needs of women in the criminal justice system are often overlooked when it comes to prioritizing resources to interrupt the cycle of criminality, addiction, and violence.

But what if, we could do something for these women right now, for their families, their community, and our world? Well with your support we can!

Maybe you’ve heard the saying that “Hurt people Hurt People.” While this rings true for so many of us, so too does the idea that healed people have the capacity to heal the world when they’re given the opportunity to work with others.

Healing is a gift that must be shared. And its power arises from the culmination of life experiences, lessons of adversity, and a journey towards self-love. When hurt people are given the chance to address their unmet needs in a supportive community along with the acquisition of tools for success, positions of leadership, and opportunities for service—widespread transformation happens.

Founders Patricia (Northwestern Pritzker Law School graduate 2016 with relevant life experiences: former foster youth, high school dropout, and formerly on probation) and LJ (PH.D in Counseling Psychology along with her expertise in educational programming) have a shared commitment to provide the world with the opportunity to connect and purposefully serve through compassion, courage, trust and love. With your support, we will bring the  CompassBlu's Roadmaps Workshop Series to the Women of HOPE Probation!

"Creating My Roadmap to Life" is an 8-week workshop series that will meet once a week to facilitate a journey towards self-discovery for dynamic women currently on probation. This workshop series is at no cost to participants. Each class will foster an open, trusting, and responsible environment that will assist participants in developing a roadmap for life framed around the following six questions: Who am I? Where am I now? Where do I want to go? What is my why? What holds me back? And how do I create the life I want?

The coursework is interactive and experiential. The activities of: journaling, practical application of lessons, service work, and leadership opportunities will create a living classroom extending beyond the walls of the probation department. Participants will learn about their personality, communication, learning, and conflict styles and how these areas affect: health, relationships, career/school, finances, and personal development. They will identify negative self-talk cycles and gain tools to interrupt it while learning how to make positive and responsible choices in life. Ultimately, participants will create a tailor-made toolkit to achieve their goals and ensure their success.

Each workshop series has a co-facilitator, who has successfully completed probation. Her role is to promote the values of leadership, contribution, and responsibility. She will earn a $500 stipend for her commitment in which $100 is put towards a savings account for a specified goal of her choosing. This is a unique opportunity for these women which will allow them to recognize their value and invest in their dreams. But don’t take our word for it:

“I have goals today, the biggest one is helping others. So by giving back, I want to start a movement targeting young people first, because I personally feel that young adults/teens often feel alone in this world. I want to reach out to the young community and let them know they are not alone and they don’t have to go through life trying to fit in or be accepted especially by the wrong crowd. My program will be a place of safety and tranquility.”-Karisa, age 26.

"Creating My Roadmap to Life "promises to deliver a powerful and impactful program that will extend beyond probation to positively impact the lives of these women and ripple out into their community creating a world of healed people who help others to heal.

With your financial support we guarantee that the workshop series is free for participants while providing innovative programming, dynamic facilitators, inspiring guest speakers, and an unforgettable graduation ceremony.
