If you're a belly dancer in BC, you probably know the name Candace Aldridge. A talented performer and instructor, Candace has been making huge contributions to the belly dance community since she showed up on the scene in 1999. Not only is she one of the community's headlining dancers (performing locally, and abroad at TribalFest and Cues & Tattoos), but she is an instructor, avid volunteer, and advocate for women, body-positivity, and building healthy communities. She has spent many years volunteering on the Oriental Performing Arts (OPA) Board, putting on events all over Vancouver Island to create opportunities for new and veteran dancers to share, learn, and explore this beautiful art form. Candace is the owner of Harmony Belly Dance Studios, and the leader of two professional troupes: Ruby Ruffles and Tanglewood. On top of juggling her professional career, studio, and volunteering, Candace is a dedicated Mumma who brings her two beautiful children with her in all her many vocations.
To her students, Candace's dedication to the studio is her greatest contribution to the community. Anyone who has been a student of Candace knows her compassionate, upbeat style of teaching to be inspirational, and even more so, the dedication in which Candace seeks out new skills and styles to bring back to her students.

Always striving to be a better dancer and instructor, Candace has been working toward completing her Suhaila Salimpour Level 2 Certification at the Salimpour School in California. She was almost there, but sometimes life throws a curve ball, and sudden life changes meant that funds got tight and she's had to put that dream on hold.

This GoFundMe Campaign has been put together by Candace's students. We want to support Candace in continuing her dance training and following her dreams. She has already given so much of her time, talent, and energy to this community, and we'd like to give her something back! Help us fund Candace's Level 2 Certification. The goal of this campaign is to cover the cost of the Certification and Testing, plus accommodations and flights for Candace and her two babes.
Every community has leaders, and since Candace has already led so many dancers to discovering their own dreams and passions, we'd like to help Candace realize her own.
