Help a 9 yr old goalie get to Edmonton
My 9 year old son, Layne, is one of only two goalies chosen from New England to play on the most elite tournament team in the area. There are multiple tournaments, including an 8 day in Edmonton (a long way from Mass) and a 4 day in Toronto. The fees alone to be on the team are one thing, but the travel puts the total cost at somewhere between $8,000 to $10,000. While we are going to do this for him no matter what, any donations received will help us rely on credit cards that much less. All donations will go directly towards travel/lodging/meal costs to and from the tournaments. He plays regular season on the Boston Junior Terriers Elite '03, and this summer for the Boston Junior Bruins "Brick" team. Below is an excerpt from the letter received letting us know he made the team.
"We
will be one of only 14 teams competing in the 24th Brick Super Novice
Invitational Tournament. The "Brick", as
it is known, along with the Quebec Pee Wee Tournament and the World Jr.
Championships are the three best amateur hockey tournaments in the world. I am
excited to be in the same company with past and current NHL players, such as
the Boston Bruin's Tyler Seguin, that have played in this tournament. As
mentioned, "The Brick", has only 14 teams from all over North America and only
240 of the top ten year old hockey players are chosen to play.
This is the highest level you can play at for youth hockey. That's why we cannot pass up the opportunity for him. It might only come once!
I believe there will be web broadcasts of the Edmonton tournament, and will gladly provide anyone with the link once it's made available to watch the Boston Junior Bruins in action!
Regardless of whether we even come close to the goal, which is about half the total cost involved, every little bit helps, and is greatly appreciated!
