Just learned I will need to have my right foot amputated (below-knee amputation) and my COBRA insurance is about to run out. I am looking at surgery next week. I have osteomyelitis in the right heel and ankle.
I currently receive cardiac disability but in Indiana, I cannot qualify for Medicare until I've been on disability 2 full years. That, for me, won't be until summer of 2014.
The insurance I have will run out before it is time to get my prosthesis. I'm not looking at fancy legs, just want one that looks real. I'm not a runner, but I do love to walk and I want to be able to go to my grandkids sporting events, etc., without a wheelchair.
