Emily's Story & Brave Fight Song

Donation protected
So many of you, family and friends have shared in Emily’s journey and walked along side Megan and Jason these past three years.   Emily’s journey began before she was born when the doctors noticed that baby Emily may have something physically wrong during an ultra sound.  Soon after birth she had a heart surgery to repair a hole in her heart and since has had dozens of doctor visits mapping out their future plans to do surgeries correcting the severity of her scoliosis.

Emily has adopted many nicknames over the years, I’d swear no child has ever been born more brave and more prepared for a fight.  Em’s as we call her in our home was even nicknamed “Spicy Meatball” by some of her doctors because she’s never letting her physical limitations keep her from having fun and getting around like when she just got out of surgery and wanted to cruise around on her power wheel – yes daddy made it happen.  She’s truly a joy to be around and has the most contagious smile.

Two weeks ago Emily had a surgery to place rods in her back to begin straightening her spine, this is the first of many surgeries to come.  The surgery went well and they were sent home for recovery, however this week Emily was rushed by ambulance the 6 hours from International Falls to Gillette Children’s Hospital facing one of the biggest complication fears of the recent surgery: a staph infection and loose rods.  They have put little Emily in a medical coma for an unknown period of time as she fights this infection and so doctors can fix the rods.

Megan has been blessed over the last few years to be a stay at home mom, but Jason has missed a lot of work to be there at the hospital’s and clinic’s as much as possible. It’s going to be a long road (years and many surgeries) ahead so we thought it would be nice to set up something for Megan and Jason if anyone wants to check in and send positive words, or help them financially.  We will do our best to send updates through this site and please continue to send up your prayers!  *Uncle JR
