My First Grade Classroom

Starting August 1, I will begin teaching first grade in Oklahoma City. It is an inner-city school. Below in the link is the school's rating and report card.
I want to be able to provide my babies everything they need from a collection of books to rugs and decorations for the classroom. With Oklahoma cutting their educational funding by an addition 32 million dollars, it is becoming more and more important to ensure that these schools and these students are getting the resources and materials they need. My babies need books in their classrooms that they can flip through and read. They need a colorful environment where they can learn and feel safe. No child should feel like their teacher doesn't care.
It's frustarting to have gone to a school where there was endless supplies and resources. It was never a question whether or not my classroom would have paper or pencils or books. The first years of elementary school are important. I want them to know how wonderful reading can be. What it feels like to read an actual book.
One of my students in summer school asked me if she would be reading copies or books. And she was excited at the thought and the privilage of holding a book. I want to make sure that my babies will have those resources. And more.
I want my babies to know that the world is at their finger tips and show them everything there is to achieve regardless of who they are or where they come from. The way a classroom looks directly impacts student confidence and performance.
I know I'm asking for a lot and your money, but I need your help. The children need your help.
Classroom designing is expensive. Please help me afford giving these kids everything they need so that my classroom is a safe and secure environment where they can learn.
As I raise more money, I will post pictures of the books and supplies I buy for them.
