Calli Care Fund

Donation protected
This is my 15-month-old Airedale puppy Calli, who came to me in November from rescue and totally captured my heart. I knew that she had some mobility issues and a mild case of hip dysplasia, and was prepared to deal with that. Unfortunately she also had a previously undetected seizure-like disorder which I noticed the first night. I hoped maybe it was anxiety-related from the change in her life, but that was not the case. From the beginning we were up several times a night as she jerked and drooled for up to 10 minutes. She also had jerking spells two or three times a day, with random jerks at other times that would sometimes make her fall while eating. It only got worse after she was spayed, so we consulted a neurologist who did an MRI and spinal tap to rule out "fixable" problems. The diagnosis was "most probably" juvenile epilepsy, so he put her on two meds which made everything worse due to the side effects and didn't stop the seizures. When a third drug was added, my puppy was turning into a zombie and falling all over the place. I decided to start looking for alternatives and get her off those meds. The process has been very expensive, with no end in sight yet, since she will require therapy for some time to come, but I am seeing improvement since I started her on acupuncture and chiropractic treatment, with special diet and supplements, while I wean her off the drugs. My vet bills alone have been over $3500 in the last four months (a large part of it is for the neurology workup); that doesn't include drugs, diet and supplements or any other Calli-related expense.
As a self-employed artist, my income depends on concentration, output and marketing, none of which I have been able to do for any length of time since Calli arrived. She's been averaging at least 6 episodes daily, with 2 or 3 at night. It has been exhausting and very stressful caring for her, but I love this puppy and won't give up on her. Most of the bills have been put on credit cards which were already a burden, one of which was a Care Credit for the neurology bill which must be paid entirely before June or I'll be hit with over 26% interest on the entire amount. The help I thought I'd have with that one didn't materialize.  Calli must have continuing care if she is to get better, which is why I am starting this fund.  I need $3500 to pay off already accrued vet bills, plus another $1500 to cover continued acupuncture and chiropractic treatments for the next few months. Any amount over the goal will go for whatever else she might need in the way of treatment for her problem.
Beyond money, Calli and I also need prayers and positive thoughts that Calli is going to be OK, that I will find the answers we need, and that we both will be able to sleep peacefully through the night before too long! So please, if you can't give, pray, and if you can give, pray anyway! Thanks!
