Heating

I am asking for your help to aid my cousin, Susan Emrich Amendola, a senior citizen on disability. She is one of the kindest, most loving and generous people you could ever meet. She hasn't had the easiest of lives but she always has a smile, a shoulder and a helping hand for others.

Susan has seen her fair share of heartache throughout her life, including being widowed young and never getting to have a family of her own. But the worst came when, due to complications with a hip replacement, she became permanently disabled and unable to work.

Susan had contracted a staff infection in the OR causing her body to reject the new artificial joint. Doctors had to remove the new hip and her thigh bone as a result. She was diagnosed with Osteomyalitis, a bone disease, and told she would never walk again. She spent over a year in hospital and 5 yrs in a nursing facility. She worked on recovering and adapting to her disability. Then she fought hard and spent all her money to get herself out of the nursing home and back to her life in a place of her own.

She spends most days now, home alone, but is still so grateful for her house and independence. Her house is an old trailer home from the late 60's with an old and failing heating system.

During the recent cold spell, on New Year's Eve, her furnace died. Being so old, no professional will touch it. The parts it needs aren't even made anymore. And although our other cousin was able to get it running again, it keeps failing and Susan was advised by the heating company that she replace the whole system.

Being disabled, Susan lives on a very minimal social security check and nothing else. She cannot afford a new heating system. She doesn't qualify for any financial aide to replace the system either.

So, I am humbly asking that you, please, help her stay warm in her home. If many people give a little we can help this wonderful and caring person obtain one of life's basic necessities. It would be so greatly appreciated. No amount is too small. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. May God bless you and your loved ones, always.
