I'm Mira Bowin and I'm a pledged At-Large Delegate for Bernie Sanders from Hurley in NY's Hudson Valley. In order for me to get to the National Convention in Philadelphia this July, I need your help to raise the funds to get me there.
I have been volunteering and organizing with Ulster County Volunteers for Bernie since July of last year and have been an active participant throughout Bernie's campaign. In order to fulfill the commitment to go to the convention, vote for Bernie, participate in the process of making a better party and pushing progressive platform issues I need to raise close to $4000 (amount suggested by campaign)!!! Delegates are required to stay in a VERY expensive hotel (around $500 + taxes/fees per night) and the costs are prohibitive to most average folks like myself. Part of Bernie's campaign's success has been the leveraging of the resources of many individuals to accomplish our goals. The same applies here. If everyone chips in, myself included, I can get to the convention and continue this important work with Bernie delegates nation-wide. I will not be able to attend the convention without the help of the Bernie community because I live on a fixed income.
I will use this money to pay for the costs associated with travel including mandatory lodging, travel expenses and food.
I need to begin fundraising immediately to make sure I am able to raise the funds before the convention begins on July 25th. The sooner I have the funds the sooner I can book my room and secure my travel.
Please consider that I am going as YOUR representative and that this is in no way for personal gain. I am here to represent the many of us who have worked tirelessly over the last year to have our voices be heard on the issues that are important to us. I will be a staunch advocate for Bernie and all of you and I will be honored to represent such fine folks. It is a tremendous responsibility but also a great privilege to be a member of the NY Bernie Delegation and I hope I can count on you to help me fulfill my duties and attend the convention.
