Kamrey Leiser

Kamrey, was involved in an accident camping Saturday. They were hiking when she triggered a rock slide. She fell about 30-45 feet. A huge jagged boulder landed on her and was estimated to be about 300 lbs. She was taken to the hospital in Big Timber MT and then life flighted to Billings. She has a hole in each lung, a laceration in her liver, her pelvis is fractured in 3 places, has a 6-8 inch gash on each thigh, and cuts scrapes and bruises all over her body. She is stable and has a long recovery ahead but we are so grateful she is still with us.
Day 2. Kamreys stats worsened overnight and she ended up in emergency abdominal surgery this morning. She has traumatic pancreatitis, they removed 200cc of fluid out of her abdomen, and they inserted an NG tube to keep her stomach empty due to not being able to get her vomiting under control.
Day 3. She was pretty restless through the night so they increased her dose of meds. That seemed to make her comfortable again. With a lot of help and pain they got her to sit up for a couple minutes today. She just had about 5 minutes of complete alertness and her mom and dad were able to talk to her and answer questions she had.
Day 4. Kamreys’ digestive system has not started up which can happen with a trauma. They are worried because it should have kicked in by now. They estimate that she has about 7 liters of fluid in her that she can’t release. She is still in a lot of pain.
